Bachelor of Visual Arts (B. V. A)
General information for the candidates seeking admission to the B.V.A. Honours (NEP) Course.

Preference to admission in 1st semester classes will be given to candidates passed in the current year followed by the candidates passed in the last year and the year before the last year respectively, depending on the availability of seats.

Admission to all courses shall be made strictly on the basis of a candidate’s position in the Merit list, according to his/her performance in the Common Admission Test (CAT). Merit list will be published after the Common Admission Test (CAT) is completed.

Any student passing H.S. (10+2) examination or its equivalent with at least 4 subjects including English from any recognized board/council shall be eligible for admission to the 1st semester of the B.V.A. (Hons.) degree programme, subject to availability of seats. However, no candidate shall be allowed to take admission in the 1st semester after a break of studies of more than 5 (five) years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination.

All admission process to first semester classes of B.V.A. (Hons.) degree programme shall be completed latest by the mid of July of each academic year. In case of other semesters, provisional admission to subsequent semester classes will be completed within fifteen days from the date of completion of preceding semester examination.

No student shall be allowed to simultaneously pursue two regular programmes offered by the Tripura University.

In regard to marks bar for admission against reserve seats/quotas for ST/SC/PH candidates, the guidelines/instructions of State Government/UGC will be followed from time to time.

Since all the semesters involve continuous assessment there would be no scope for a student to appear as private candidate in any subject.

A student must pass all the semester examinations within seven years from the date of admission to the first semester course.

Students’ performances shall be monitored throughout the semester by continuous assessment in the theory and practical course. Evaluation of the student performance in each of the theory and practical course will be based on the following:

Internal evaluation - 40% marks

External evaluation - 60% marks

The medium of academic instruction for B.V.A. (Hons.) is in English and Bengali. The question papers of Honours subjects shall be set only in English other than language subjects.

No candidate shall be allowed to be admitted to the 1st semester class of B.V.A. (Hons.) curriculum until he/she has completed the 17 years of age and has not exceeded age 28 on 1st July of the year of admission.

The candidate must have passed the H.S. (10+2) examination or equivalent examination from TBSE or any other recognized board.

All admission will be provisional subject to the fulfilment of conditions and rules of the College and University.

Waitlisted candidates desiring to take admission should to check their position in the Merit list from the college notice board regularly, during the admission process.
